My Mandates Are Better Than Your Mandates - Republicans have spent much of the last two years lambasting President Obama and Democrats for passing a law that requires healthy Americans to buy health insurance. Democrats, likewise, have tried to justify the mandate that requires healthy young people to buy health insurance. But the Obama administration wants to give states more flexibility where it comes to overseeing "welfare to work" programs.

Democrats want more control over how states control Medicaid funds.

Republicans want to require states to allow people to carry handguns. And so on.
