Romney, After 'Exhaustion' Report, Hits the Gym
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Following reports that he had cancelled a campaign event in Orlando due to exhaustion, Mitt Romney hit the gym this afternoon.
An aide to the candidate said that after staff meetings and speech prep, Romney spent 30 to 40 minutes at the hotel gym. Romney typically uses the elliptical machine, although it was not clear what equipment he used today.
A Florida newspaper had reported Monday morning that Romney was "too exhausted to make the trip" to Orlando, which was to be sandwiched in between two other campaign events in other parts of the state. His campaign said earlier that the newspaper report was wrong in regards to Romney being exhausted.
Romney has had a non-stop campaign schedule since Saturday morning, when he announced his pick of a running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan.
His bus tour thus far has made more than six stops and Romney and Ryan sat down for a joint interview with "60 Minutes" on Sunday. Romney arrived at his hotel Sunday well past midnight, following a day that started in North Carolina, moved on to Wisconsin and ended in Florida.
