New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is using Twitter to get the famous and followed to spread the word about the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy last week.  Christie is tweeting at celebrities, asking them to help victims of the storm by spreading the word and by donating to the New Jersey Relief Fund.

Tune in to ABCNews.com on Tuesday, Nov. 6 for livestreaming coverage of Election 2012. Our Election Day show kicks off at noon, and the Election Night event begins at 7 p.m. 

Christie went on a Twitter tear, appealing for support for his home state and advocating for the New Jersey areas that were hit the hardest by Sandy. Among some of the chosen celebrities were New Jersey natives Kelly Ripa, Bruce Springsteen, Danny DeVito and the Jonas Brothers.

“Ur hometown state need ur help spreading the word. To help all those affected by #Sandy click here https://sandynjrelieffund.org/index.html  thx,” Christie tweeted at the Jonas Brothers.

Christie tweeted over ten different celebrities this week, including members of the two local NFL teams, the New York Jets and the New York Giants. Most of the tweets sent ended with the hashtag #NJResilience

The governor did not limit his tweeting for help to Jerseyians alone. He also tweeted TV personality Ryan Seacrest and Canadian singer and songwriter Justin Bieber.

“@justinbieber my girls are big fans. Will u help us spread the word about NJReliefFund?” Gov. Christie Tweeted. Bieber retweeted the Governor and added a response: “Gonna try to work with Red Cross to have u guys all help donate for those affected by hurricane sandy.”
