PRESIDENT OBAMA VISITS MYANMAR

The Los Angeles Times' Kathleen Hennessey: " President Obama arrives in Myanmar after Thailand visit" President Obama on Monday became the first U.S. president to visit Myanmar, a once-secretive nation emerging from decades of authoritarian rule. Obama is expected to urge the Southeast Asian country's government to stay the course toward democratic reforms. LINK

USA Today's Calum MacLeod: " Obama will be visiting a more open and hopeful Burma" From businessmen chasing new markets to basketball players serving as sports envoys, the past year has seen an unprecedented wave of American visitors to the once-pariah state of Burma. On Monday, President Obama arrived. LINK

Wall Street Journal's Laura Meckler: " Obama Makes First Visit to Myanmar" President Barack Obama arrived in this once-pariah nation Monday to praise its progress away from military rule and call for more steps to address human rights abuses, in hopes that his high-profile attention will push the nation further down the road of political and economic change. Mr. Obama is the first sitting U.S. president to visit Myanmar, also known as Burma, which has moved within the last two years to a quasicivilian government but is the subject of continuing human-rights concerns. BENGHAZI

The Washington Times' " GOP says Intel right, narrative wrong on Libya" Top Republicans on the House and Senate intelligence committees said Sunday that Obama administration political appointees removed references to al Qaeda-linked groups from intelligence agencies' accounts of the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. LINK

The Washington Post's Karen DeYoung: " On Sunday talks shows, lawmakers spar over Benghazi attack" Republican and Democratic lawmakers sharply disagreed Sunday over whether and to what extent the Obama administration soft-pedaled its initial public explanation of the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya. "I think it's very odd that the story line they chose omitted al-Qaeda, which would help the president enormously" three weeks before a hotly contested election in which President Obama claimed to have vanquished the terrorist group, said Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.). LINK

ISRAEL/GAZA

Politico's Josh Gerstein and Jennifer Epstein: " Obama seeks to head off Israeli ground invasion in Gaza" President Obama made his first remarks Sunday on the escalating violence in Gaza and Israel, firmly backing Israel's right to defend itself militarily against rocket attacks from the Hamas-controlled Palestinian area, but also making clear that he's eager to avert a potential ground incursion into Gaza by Israeli troops. "There's no country on Earth that would tolerate missiles raining down on its citizens from outside its borders," he said at a press conference here with the Thai prime minister. LINK

HEALTH CARE

The Hill's Sam Baker: " Five "ObamaCare" battles to watch" "Republicans aren't going to repeal "ObamaCare" in the next four years, but there's still plenty of room for both political fights and policy changes. Republicans have begun over the past two weeks to acknowledge - albeit grudgingly - that President Obama's reelection took repeal off the table for the next four years. LINK

CLIMATE CHANGE

Boston Globe's Beth Daley: " Bipartisan steps urged on climate change policy" First, Hurricane Sandy hit. Then, President Obama mentioned global warming in his acceptance speech. Now, 2012 looks likely to be the hottest year on record. LINK

GOP

ABC News' Michael Falcone: " Republicans Mourning for Mitt Romney? Not So Much" Republicans are over it. And most of them aren't doing much mourning for Mitt Romney. LINK

The New York Times' Jennifer Steinhauer: " Back on Hill, Ryan Remains a Fiscal Force " Gone is the private jet and the motorcade that swept him from the tarmac to the private hotel entrances. His security staff has been reduced to a few Capitol Police officers, soon to fade away. LINK
