Boehner and Obama Speak - Jake Tapper reports that Obama and Boehner did speak on the phone this afternoon. So there's that. We don't know what happened on that conversation. But we do know that both men continued their very public and very intractable statements. Obama spoke to the Business roundtable and said he wouldn't negotiate on the debt ceiling next year. Boehner spoke after a caucus meeting and said he wants a counter-counter-offer. McConnell tried to get a vote on the president's proposal. Harry Reid objected.
