Mark Zuckerberg's New Group to Lobby on Immigration
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's still-in-the-works political group will lobby for comprehensive immigration reform.
The group, which has yet to officially announced itself, has hired two lobbying firms, Peck Madigan Jones and Fierce, Isakowitz & Blalock, a source close to the group told ABC News.
Zuckerberg's new political effort will push for comprehensive immigration reform, including possible citizenship for undocumented immigrants, the source told ABC. While Silicon Valley is often mentioned by politicians in the same breath as H-1B visas for skilled workers, Zuckerberg's effort will be broader.
In a series of press reports this week, unnamed sources have revealed that along with Joe Green, his former Harvard roommate, Zuckerberg is in the process of launching an independent political group that will address a broad range of issues, from immigration to education.
Republican strategists Jon Lerner and Ron Jesmer will join former Clinton White House press secretary Joe Lockart in working for the group, according to multiple press reports.
The group will form as a nonprofit, according to the source.
