Watch Live Brain Surgery Right Here and on Twitter
As we reported Tuesday, surgeons at Memorial Hermann hospital in Houston are live tweeting and broadcasting a brain tumor surgery today.
Dr. Dong Kim, a neurosurgeon at the hospital, will remove a benign cavernous angioma tumor - and, with the help of lots of technology in the OR, will broadcast it in the window right below. The surgeons will begin their prep at 8:30 a.m. EDT and will make the first incision at around 10 a.m. EDT.
"We're using a lot of technology, but I think the thing that helps with this is that we are using an operating microscope and there's a natural recording mechanism that can be tweeted," Kim told ABC News.
For those who get a bit queasy at the sight of blood, you might not want to scroll through the updates below; graphic images or video might appear.
If you happen to be on a phone or tablet and cannot view the CoverItLive module below, you can follow @houstonhospital and #mhbrain on Twitter to get live updates. Also, ABC News' own Chief Health and Medical Editor, Dr. Richard Besser ( @drrichardbesser), will be tweeting and taking questions about the surgery.
