'Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker' Goes HD This Fall
Even with a 4×3 format, presented in standard definition, 2003's "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker" stands out as one of the most beautiful Nintendo games of all time. It's no wonder then that fans have been gushing with excitement today after Nintendo announced the game will be getting an HD makeover with a re-release for the Nintendio Wii U.
When Zelda games are ranked by Nintendo nerds, "Ocarina of Time" often takes the top spot, but arguments are regularly made for "Wind Waker" as the greatest Zelda game of all. Set on the high seas of the fictional Hyrule, the game's cartoon-like, cel-shaded art represented a drastic change of pace for the look of the Zelda series and became a cult hit in the gaming community. Reviews still stand strong to this day; the media ranking site MetaCritic gives the game a solid score of 96.
If Wind Waker's remastered graphics aren't your cup of Nintendo tea, the company had plenty of other announcements ready today, including confirmation that this year's E3 trade show will have previews of a new 3-D Mario game as well as new entries into the "Mario Kart," "Yoshi's Story," and "Super Smash Bros." series.
Nintendo released the Wii U in November and promised continuous updates to the console. It has improved graphics and its own tablet-controller called the GamePad. Check out our review of the console here.
