The Olympic Village isn't the only cold place where the app Tinder has been heating up the dating scene.

A scientist working in Antarctica used the app on a whim and found a potential match at a campsite a 45-minute helicopter ride away. He swiped his phone to indicate his interest, and was notified a couple minutes later that she found him interesting as well.

"She was actually in her tent in the Dry Valleys when we matched," the scientist told New York Magazine. "She was quite literally camping in Antarctica, went on Tinder, and found me. It's mind-blowing."

The scientist, who asked to not be named, first used the app sometime in December. However, it wasn't until a few weeks later that he finally saw that the woman Tinder set him up with. The meeting was short-lived, as she was leaving Antarctica the following day. However, he remains optimistic that they'll see each other again.

"I have yet to become the first Tinder hookup in Antarctic history," he said. "But she is actually coming back, and we may overlap. There's still hope."
