Becky Worley has been a tech reporter-producer since 1998. She is currently a consumer and technology correspondent for ABC's "Good Morning America." She focuses on how to live healthier, avoid online scams, save on big purchases, parent in the digital world, and buy cute pants on Instagram. Worley brings a hands-on approach to reporting on new products. She has dropped iPhones from 50 feet in the air, sledge-hammered a piano to test if the pieces could be carted away in "super-strong" garbage bags, worn magnetic eyelashes on an open top bus, and jogged a mile in high-heels to see if they really were "as comfortable as running shoes." In a world where every penny counts, she finds creative ways to save through apps, digital couponing, and new budgeting hacks… and she has been called the Queen of Black Friday!
Becky started her TV career fresh out of college, working in news for Seattle's KOMO-TV. While working there, she developed an interest in technology and the burgeoning Internet. In 1998, the creation of an all- technology TV network called ZDTV was a dream come true: TV plus tech, so Worley jumped to San Francisco where the fledgling network was ramping up.
During her six years at ZDTV /TechTV, Worley produced 3 different shows, hosted a live, hourlong computer help call-in show, and when they created an eight-hour technology news format, Worley was tapped as an anchor.
From there she started making guest appearances on CNN and "Good Morning America" as a tech expert and was eventually hired as ABC's technology contributor. She has appeared on "World News with Diane Sawyer," "Nightline," and "20/20" along with her regular reports for "Good Morning America."
Becky has hosted shows for the Travel Channel, the National Geographic channel and the Fine Living Network. She hosted two documentaries about engineering solutions to fight climate change. Worley is also the author of "Security Alert: Stories of Real People Protecting themselves from Viruses, Identity Theft, and Scams."
Becky has a master's degree from Stanford University. She graduated through a program called "Learning, Design, and Technology" that focuses on computer science and education.
Worley was raised on the island of Maui, Hawaii, attended Middlebury College in Vermont, and currently resides in Oakland, California, with her wife and 14-year-old twins. She coaches rugby, surfs, skis and fly-fishes whenever she can sneak it in, and plays ukulele when she needs to chill out.
