Taylor Swift is music's golden goddess, selling out arenas in minutes and driving fans to near hysteria over her smash-hit singles, including her latest, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," the singer's first single off her upcoming album, "Red."

ABC News caught up with the six-time Grammy winner - Swift is the youngest winner of the music industry's highest honor, the Grammy award for Album of the Year - on a blistering hot August day in Nashville at her cover shoot for Glamour magazine - her third - which will be featured in the magazine's November issue, out on newsstands nationwide on Oct. 9. The styling of the shoot was what Swift called a '40s meets '70s vibe, and was set on an old train.

"I love these shoots, cover shoots, because I really just let them do what they want," the 22-year-old singer told "Nightline" anchor Cynthia McFadden in an exclusive interview. "I used to be particular about things. I used to ask, 'well, what are you going to do with my hair…' Now I walk in and I'm like, 'what you want to do… I don't care.'"

Swift showed off each of the outfits she wore for the Glamour shoot, photos from which were exclusively revealed to " Good Morning America" and " Nightline" ahead of the November issue's release. View Glamour's cover shoot gallery HERE.

"This is fun, it's playing dress up," Swift said.

Photographer Ellen von Unwerth and Glamour's creative team shot the singer in several designer looks, each ensemble vying for the all-important cover shot.

Glamour's editor-in-chief Cindi Lieve knows cover gold when she sees it and chose the photo of Swift wearing a gold Burberry sequin tank and a red Dior skirt and belt for the magazine's November cover. Lieve said she and her team knew they wanted Swift back again shortly after she was first featured on Glamour's cover three years ago.

"She's one of those people who everyone relates to so her covers sell really well, but they also just make women feel good," she said.

When Swift first appeared on Glamour's cover in August 2009, she was just 19 years old, a bright young country singer who was starting to gain Grammy buzz. Just three years later, Swift has become an international sensation with over 19 million Twitter followers and she is releasing her fourth studio album, "Red," on Oct. 22.

Since Swift appeared in jeans on her first Glamour cover, Lieve said the singer wanted "a more glammed up, sophisticated moment" this time around.

"This was one of those things where I was like, 'yeah sure,'" Swift said, referring to the sparkly yellow and floral outfit shown above. "In the context of a train with bags and stuff, it was awesome… no way to get anywhere in that without being noticed."

Although cowboy boots and sundresses have been her uniform for concerts past, Swift, never without her signature fire engine red lips, said lately she has been drawn to a more ladylike look.

"I love clothes and I tend to go through very definitive phases of what I like wearing," Swift said. "Right now, it's all vintage dresses, kind of fancy lady outfits. I was getting ready the other night I was like, 'where are my pearls?'"
