"ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" Closes Total Viewing and Demo Gaps with "NBC Nightly News" by Double-Digits Both Week-to-Week and Year-to-Year
Year-to-Year, "World News" Slashes Total Viewing Gap by 19% and Demo Gap by 20% with NBC
For the week of June 4, 2012, "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 6.71 million Total Viewers and a 1.4 rating/6 share/1.70 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Week-to-week, "World News" cut its margins with "NBC Nightly News" by double-digits in both Total Viewers (-10% - 834,000 vs. 925,000) and Adults 25-54 (-23% - 349,000 vs. 455,000) .
For the 5th time in the last 6 weeks, "World News" cut its year-to-year margins with "NBC Nightly News" among both Total Viewers (-19% - 834,000 vs. 1.03 million) and Adults 25-54 (-20% - 349,000 vs. 437,000). "World News" has cut the demo gap with "Nightly News" by double-digits in 13 of the last 14 weeks.
Season-to-date, "World News" is narrowing its gaps with "NBC Nightly News" in both Total Viewers (-3%) and Adults 25-54 (-26%), posting its smallest Total Viewer (1.03 million) and news demo margins (353,000) with the NBC program in 3 years - since the 2008-09 season.
"World News" outperformed the "CBS Evening News" by 1.48 million Total Viewers and by 186,000 Adults 25-54.
