"Heck Yes, I Want an Epidural!"

Living in Oregon, there is a large population of amazing mothers who love and enjoy the process of laboring and delivering a child naturally. I am not one of these mothers.  And I’m totally OK with that.

When I would go in for some of my last pregnancy appointments the doctors would ask my preference on an epidural, to which I would quickly jump up and yell, “Heck yes I want an epidural!” and then I would request they put that in big bold letters on my chart. Then I would proceed to beg for the epidural several weeks in advance.

Turns out I’m quiet the medication pusher but seriously, for me it was the best option. I know everyone is different and maybe my pain tolerance level is extremely low, but I so loved getting epidurals. I was able to enjoy my birthing experience so much more being comfortable and a little calmer.

That’s just me though. What do you think?

Childbirth is such an incredible moment, and I’d love to know what went through your mind when you held your baby for the first time?
