Transcript for Ryan Reynolds opens up about 'Deadpool 2' live on 'GMA'
I got a special guest with Ryan Reynolds. Two days in a row. Fresh off the Manhattan premiere of "Deadpool 2" E wildcat committee back. Thank you, sir. Nice to be back. Premiere looked like fun last night. It was. It was a lot of fun. I don't know who schedules these things because that goes very, very late and then we're -- here very, very early so I'm legally dead inside right now. You wake up to a lot of great reviews in the papers this morning. Exciting. I watched it yesterday afternoon. It is so funny. It's a fun movie, yeah. Do you care about the reviews at this point? You know, you always want, you know -- I work in show business so we all have this horrible unquenchable thirst for approval so, yeah, a little. I mean you want the movie to do well. It's more of a reflection of all the people that worked so hard on the movie. There was a team around me that is just -- that works tirelessly on this stuff so you want that to be celebrated to some degree so, yeah, it's always good for the business. You guys had set the bar so high with "Deadpool" which is what a different experience, 11 years in the making and surprises the world. This time the bar is up there. The pressure is on. It really is but still aiming for the middle and somehow that works. You know, "Deadpool" is -- what's great about "Deadpool," "Deadpool" doesn't care. The character sort of does exactly what he wants, you know, I think that's what people love. That's why audiences connect and connect because we're having so much fun on screen and truly are. It's the role of a lifetime for me. So we're having so much fun. I think that translates to the audience That's what is so clear. All of you have having fun with each other. You're having fun making fun of yourself. I love laughing at me. I'm deadpool's favorite target. Tell us about how the Celine Dion thing happened? A Canadian connection. I tried to make it a Canadian connection. We had this amazing song and we had an amazing theme song are to the movie and I wanted somebody magical to sing it and dance -- Every time I see that -- And, you know, wide the stud incredibly talented millennial singers and I just thought let's go for a legend. Let's go for somebody -- who is the last person that did the great movie music tie-innd it was Celine in "Titanic." Not only that she's just the best of the best so I wrote her a letter. I wrote two letter, one to her, one to the dalai lamb economy. Never heard back from the dalai lamb economy. Somehow some way Celine said yes and she said yes again to an insane music video. Now you H a dalglish for "Deadpool3." Dalai lama. The whole thing might be getting an appendix operation. I don't know what we'll do. You've been taking on Hugh Jackman as well, wolverine and had him here last week. Little message for you. Ryan, hey, buddy. How are you, mate? Ryan, I love you, man. I love "Deadpool." I can't wait to see the movie. You're one of my best friends. Blake, the Fam, the whole thing but back it up a little. It's just -- play it -- right. Play a little hard to get. It's too much. It's not sexy. Am I right? It's not. Sorry about that. Good advice. It is. I've been trying to get him to play wolverine again. He won't listen. He insists on singing and dancing brilliantly elsewhere so I don't know. I'm going to have to step up my game a little and post his cell phone number online. It's coming next. Game on. I have read you have two little girls at home. You don't want them to go into show business. No, no, mostly because I'm against child abuse. So show business for a little kid is -- that's a crazy pursuit, you know. Acting is great. You know, go theater, school, that -- amazing. I don't know why you would put your kid in show business. It's just -- yeah. How about singing? Let's listen. ??? Gorgeous ??? ??? gorgeous ??? Yeah. Starring in a Taylor Swift album. Well, I don't know about starring. Little intro there, yeah, that was -- that was -- it was a voice memo that ended up on a song. My daughter had a really terrible ego problem after that song. Starts out right at the top. She's insufferable. Yeah, so she's in a Taylor Swift song. I don't know if she knows it. One day she'll find out. Been a couple weeks at home with them now. I've been all over the world, Korea and Europe so it's been amazing but I'm excited to just stay put for a minute, yeah. Great to have you back here. Always great to be back, George, thanks very much.
