Now to bust tonight involving products you have seen in your own medicine cabinet. Authorities say this was a scam across several states. And now comes the testing. What was really inside those products. Here tonight ABC's Linzie Janis. Reporter: From fake chapstick to Vicks vaporub and vaseline. New York investigators say they've busted a sophisticated counterfeiting operation, uncovering two million in bogus health and beauty products. What's so disturbing about this scheme is that it actually is counterfeiting products that people are putting on babies and inhalers that people are ingesting. Reporter: Prosecutors say these two brothers were manufacturing, packaging and selling the fakes. These products have been found to turn up in retail locations in New York, Pennsylvania and Florida. Reporter: Police finding this New York warehouse with ingredients stored in unsanitary jugs and steel drums. The worry tonight, health risks. Officials are now testing the products. The scam reminiscent of the fda's 2007 discovery of counterfeit Colgate toothpaste containing a sweet-tasting poison used in anti-freeze, the people who bought it getting sick. Here are a couple of things to help us all spot a fake. One, check out that packaging. Number two, if the price you're paying seems too low and there's no special promotion, it could be counterfeit. At the arraignment of the brothers lawyers for the men said they're innocent. He's maintaining his innocence on this. He had nothing to do with it. You point out three states. New York, Florida, and Pennsylvania. Are we sure it doesn't go beyond Pennsylvania and Florida? No we're not. They still at the beginning of trying to determine how wide this scheme is. They believe the brothers were selling the products to small dependent stores. The other question is what's inside these products and are they safe.
