Transcript for Sean Spicer criticized for cameo at Emmy Awards
There was a surprise cameo by a fell low who made his mark on TV this year. Take a look. Is there anyone who can say how big the audience is. Sean, do you know? This will be the largest audience to witness an emmys period, both in person and around the world. So -- They liked it. Yeah. Now some folks are not laughing about it. They say he lied for the white house plenty of times so it's not okay to normalize it. I sent an e-mail to April Ryan. Remember April Ryan? Yeah. She's a journalist and he took her on in April -- I mean in March. He said I'm sorry please stop shaking your head. Do you remember this? Yeah. I wrote to her and said April do you think the Emmy audience normalized spice er. She wrote back did they really enjoy it I thought they were in shock people are angry over it. Twitter is on fire. Sean can laugh at himself if he wants. Others are not. He owes people an apology. I think that's true. I do. I think the fact is -- he's a liar. Trump lies and he and sar hua Huckabee go out there and say the lies. I think he owes the people an apology. I think Hollywood and the media need to lighten up. This guy had a sense of humor. His job as press secretary is -- To lie. That's your job. It's to too. If the president says something, you say it. Your job is to give the truth to the people. It's ridiculous. Have a moment. Then you watch the whole show. It's anti-Trump. I say it all the time. This is why trump won. When you make it trump versus Hollywood and the media trump wins. When you marginalize trump the way they do here, you marginalize his voters. His voters -- No. They do the same thing. This is Hollywood. I'm sorry. Having come from there and being a celebrity I don't like being painted that way. There's a lot of roll even stuff that goes on yes. Do people have to lighten up? Yes. I have to tell you if you decide to say this is who the issue is for you marginalize the rest of the American public. The issue is listen, Sean, people want you to say I did what I was supposed to do. I did my job. Maybe it wasn't as great a job as I thought I should do. People will be fine with it. There's nothing you can do when these guys are faced with their commander and chief and he says go out there and this is what I need you to do. He took the job. Don't yell at me first of all. I wasn't yelling at you. Don't yell at me. I wasn't. He didn't take the job before he knew -- maybe he took the job before he knew what kind of person he was with. I don't know. I just kind of feel like we've been faced with all kinds of folk nes in that position who told us all kinds of crazy stuff. I think what irritates me more than anything that no one is saying hey -- when the person is doing it, we need to not get mad when they're gone. Get mad now. With Ms. Huckabee -- start doing it now. The thing is -- It's -- we'll be back.
