Transcript for 911 call from Jerry Falwell’s wife after he fell gets released
Thank you. We turn at home to new fallout involving Jerry Falwell Jr. His wife's Cal to 911, telling the dispatcher her husband fell down the stairs and was bleeding from his head. Here's Adrienne Bankert. Reporter: Tonight, the newly released 911 call from the wife of embattled former liberty university president Jerry Falwell Jr., seeking help for injuries he suffered from what appears to be a drunken fall. Where is he bleeding from? His head, his ear, his nose. Reporter: According to dispatch records, Becki Falwell arrived home around 11:00 P.M. August 30th after getting a call from her husband that he'd fallen. The doors locked. She had to break into the house. She's heard telling 911 he's been drinking. When asked whether he was drinking heavily, she responds -- I'm not going to answer that question. Reporter: Records show he told ems he'd fallen down the stairs and hit his head. First responders documented that he had multiple cuts to his face and slurred speech. Go forth from liberty and trust in confidence that god has a plan. Reporter: Falwell led one of the nation's largest Christian colleges. Its ethics code includes a ban on alcohol. A week prior to the 911 call he resigned from the university amid the bombshell revelation of his wife's longtime affair with one-time Miami pool boy turned friend and business associate Giancarlo Granda. Granda accuses Jerry of being involved in the seven-year affair. Falwell denies those claims and says that Granda is trying to shame and blackmail them. David, the university a day after that 911 call opened up an independent investigation into all aspects of Falwell's tenure, including the finances. The school tells us tonight that registration is ongoing. David? Adrian Bankert reporting. Thank you.
