Transcript for 'Lego Movie 2' star Will Arnett reveals the inspiration for his Batman voice
We are here at the Lego desk because our next guest is Lego Batman himself, he's back in "The Lego movie 2," the second part, please welcome will Arnett. How are you? What's up, man? Hey, buddy. How are you? Thank you. Oh, man. Good to see you. Good to see you. We got all kinds of cups. I don't know if you can put water in the Lego cup? Don't try it on air. Yeah. We want to kick things off and do a little flashback Friday. Okay. Because 20 years ago you made your first appearance on TV. I must have been a kid. Yeah, you were. On the TV show "Sex and the city." Yeah. So when you think back on that time what's the first thing that comes to mind? Well, that particular episode if you're familiar with it, I play a character who is obsessed with having hookups in public places, so I think about -- I think about I hope my parents don't see it. That look in your eye in that episode. I know, it's nuts. But it was a lot -- Safe to say your kids haven't seen it yet. My kids have not seen it, no and I hope to burn every copy. Tomorrow they see the movie for the first time. Yes. They are -- they're really excited -- they were in the first -- sorry, they were in the second one, they were in Lego Batman and voiced some characters and asked if they were going to be in this one. I said, sorry, we went in a different direction. Yeah, because I want them to learn how hard life is. Are they impressed by Batman? They are not. No? No, it's a lot of eye-rolling. No, they're into it. They love the Lego movies and love Lego Batman. Their friends are much more impressed. When I go to school to pick them up, all their friends are like, do the Batman voice, I'm like, okay. Your sons roll their eyes when it happens. My sons roll their eyes at a lot of stuff I do. I'm constantly trying to embarrass them because dabbing is so uncool I've tried to -- it's only like 11 months since they were doing it so that's when I started doing it a lot. I will start to do it and they'll grab my arms like, oh, my god, don't do it. The Batman voice, I was going to ask you to do it. You got another line for us. Well, I think I already said -- Good morning, America. Let's see a little bit of it. Listen, lady, don't try any mind games. Batman is a permanent bat-chelor. Can you imagine having a family I love -- I was just saying that to make the person I actually want to marry jealous. So I guess we're done here. Parry Batman. That's a good one. You funny. How did you come up with the voice? We came up -- when we were doing the first Lego movie we kind of looked at all the other Batman and thought the more serious he was, the funnier and seeing him do like mundane things like being like, hey, I just want to have -- is that my coffee? Wait, I'm supposed to have some cream in there. This seems -- just like going through -- dumb day-to-day stuff and -- You heard in that clip the voice of the queen haddish. Yeah. So how is it -- What's it been like for you traveling around the world with Tiffany promoting the movie. Let me just say right out of the gate, she ready. That part of it is true. She is so -- she's such a great addition to the movie. She's so inventive and constantly surprises you. I don't know if you saw "Girl trip." Great movie. She's so -- Tiffany is so funny. We were in England together promoting the movie and watching the looks on people's faces about some of the stuff she would say was unbelievable. Do you have a super bowl plan? I'm going to watch my rams. Ah. Okay. You got a score prediction? Score prediction, yeah, I'm going to say -- I'm going to say it's going to be 27-24, rams. Yeah. And that's going to show up on cold hard takes like the next day, terrible prediction. Where are you going to watch? I thought I was watching at your house. Coming to hang out with us? You were saying like you had those free tickets like -- Yeah and a new car. I'm going to watch at home, yeah, I'm going to watch at home with some friends and my kids and stuff. It's going to be fun. Fantastic. Thanks for coming in again. Great to be here. Chris Pratt is going to be here next week. Before you go anything we should ask him? Anything you should ask Chris Pratt? Yeah, you know, Chris Pratt is sneaky good. Ask him to do his Sean Connery impression. Oh. It's really good. If you're saying it we're going to trust it's good because you're the master of impressions. "The Lego movie 2: The second part" hits theaters soon and check it out. Courtesy of our friends at imax, everyone in our studio audience is getting two tickets to see
