know. Our cover story, mom shaming online. Kristin cavallari is taking heat on social media apparently for having fun without her kids. Erielle reshef is taking a look at that and the double standard divorced moms face for having a social life. Good morning, erielle. Reporter: Hey there, Amy. So many moms have been through something like this and, frankly, few things feel worse and Kristin cavallari's latest post on Instagram sparking harsh comments about her parenting but many of her 4 million followers and her friends are rushing to her defense. Might want to work on that prenup. Reporter: Kristin cavallari, the target of what some are calling mom shaming. Over the weekend she posted this picture with her girlfriends and the sarcastic caption zero fun but some commenters pouncing on the star saying she should be having less fun and be more focuseded on her three children. One writing, ever since her divorce she never has her kids adding if you don't wanna be a mother why did you have kids? Mom shaming unfortunately is as natural as breathing in our culture and people are always looking out for a mom who is doing something wrong or something that's different than what they would choose to do and jump all over it. It's not fair and it's incredibly toxic. Reporter: Cavallari and her husband Jay Cutler split last September. Had a good run. Reporter: Amid the online backlash her friend and former co-star from "Very cavallari" rushing to her defense responding I can assure you her kids are her biggest priority and when it's her turn with them they have her undivided attention and she's the best mom I've ever been around. There's a huge double standard. If a dad is going out and having a good time meeting people trying to have a social life, people don't naturally jump all over him for it because moms are considered the primary caretakers. It's our job to be at home with the kids, put the kids first at all times no matter what and that's unfair. Moms also need social outlets. They need to have fun and take care of their needs as well. Reporter: So far cavallari is not responding directly to this drama on her Instagram but experts tell us it's important when parents are with their kids to focus on your kids but it's also important when you're not to do something for yourself, a little self-care never hurts and, of course, robin that balance is important and can make you a better parent. Absolutely. You know that, all right. Erielle, you do it so well, thank you.
