What is here is shaping up to be a political year like none other with a pandemic bringing a mail in voting to the forefront of the election ways we could not have even a Mac. Yes and let's go to Colorado now facing a hot senate race. Just begun the process of mailing of ballots to every active bowler only one of nine states that actually does that his tells more about that process and what's going on there Colorado with the secretary of state. Did agree as Walt thank you so much for spending a little time with us we know everything is crazy busy port if everybody. Right now and that look every state adds a different process is seen thorough lawsuits flying around. You all there in the state actually did have a lawsuit against the Postal Service for some mailers that were sent out giving some wrong information. About the process there in Colorado how concerned. Are you. That there is so much misinformation out there now that your voters in that state are going to have a difficult time. I'm I am highly confident in our elections and we're gonna have a great election here and Colorado. You know our processes so straightforward you registered about your mailed a ballot and return it to 100 a drop boxes. One of hundreds of polling locations or by the mail. But you're right there is a lot of misinformation in this election whether it's from elected officials or for an adversaries. And so we are about two lines programming Colorado encouraging voters to ignore the noise. In go to a trusted source of election information. That advice and good or all voters across the nation I just make sure that you're getting your election information premier secretary of State's. Or your county clerk are and other trusted source of information. Secretary in some states we have already seen some voters getting the wrong balance double ballots and in your state specifically congressman Ken Buck says some in eligible voters received some ballots so what's the latest on that situation. And what has the remedy Penn. Well unfortunately. Congressman buckets spreading. I'm but again it's so important to go to a trusted source of information. I he's actually referring to just that PSA not actual ballots ballots only go to registered voters here in Colorado. In Colorado. Beat news our elections are stuck. I you know we have the highest percentage of eligible people register to vote we lead nation and heart out and we are also considered the secure state to cast a ballot. And I sewer in this go to Election Day and you got some attention here in kind of walk back to some tweets. But you had essentially asking the media not to report any election returns and results. On election night now you know like us that you walk to back a little bit so tell me why you said it in the first place and cleared up do you still believe the media. Should be holding the election night results. Well what I was referring to you I was actually winners or losers are the presidential candidate. That presidential campaigns excuse me I'm and I fully confident that the media can get it right but what I was trying to highlight is that new election models across an H. I'll we have rapidly expanded and other states I'd different ways to it to have successful elections during the pandemic. And thankfully confidence in every secretary of state election officials ability to execute the selection. Secretary Griswold of course come election date still the option will be to have that in person voting in. You've hired poll workers but not just any poll workers in fact you've hired election judges how is that different how does that work. Well in Colorado we have bipartisan. Election judges at every step of the process. And things we saw in other states in the primaries was a lack of election workers. So actually launched an election judge recruitment effort we lot me recruited thousands of election judges. I if they start Adair started actually right now. All you in person early voting and the processing mail ballots. We really even those bi partisan judges because that's how one of the reasons we know our elections are are so good by artists and oversight. The entire process. Well secretary Griswold we know it is a very very busy time for you so we appreciate you making time to join us today. They you so much have a good day. All right and be sure folks who get specific guidance on voting in your state from our partners at 538. There at how to vote in 20/20 website and Avnet.
