Transcript for FBI warns of possible ‘explosive’ events across the country
Thank you very much, Dr. Jen. Let's go now to Washington to ABC's Kyra Phillips for the latest headlines. Good afternoon, Kyra. Happy Friday. Reporter: Happy Friday, indeed, Amy. All of us preparing for next week, truly preparing for a peaceful transition. It was surreal, driving into work and seeing so many military boots on the ground here with just five days left before a new administration takes the helm here in Washington. We are under epic security right now. President-Elect Biden announcing his sweeping economic package to get the country back on track in the middle of the crippling global pandemic. Biden saying the nearly $2 trillion doesn't come cheaply, but failure to do so will cost us dearly. The massive package would ramp up stalling vaccination efforts and provide more money for Americans who are struggling right now. And a new ABC news/ "Washington post" poll highlights the call for consequences for outgoing president trump in the aftermath of that deadly capitol siege. 56% of the people polled say the soon-to-be ex-president should be barred from ever holding office again. 54% saying he should be criminally charged in that deadly capitol hill attack. The transition at the white house fully under way now, with moving trucks and personnel stepping up that exit, as President-Elect Biden's team gets ready to move into the oval. And as I mentioned at the top, the capitol looking more and more like a fortress in preparation for the inauguration. More than 20,000 troops on duty now, while there are more than 200 arrests across the country, in the wake of that attack. The FBI in Arkansas saying that Peter stagger, seen on video allegedly beating a police officer with the handle of an American flag, is now in custody. The FBI warning of a rising threat of explosives in upcoming demonstrations and urging state and local law enforcement to stay on high alert all across the country. And the scary scene overnight for bus passengers in New York City. That extra-long bus dangling after plunging off an overpass. At least eight riders injured when that bus soared off the road, falling 50 feet to the highway below. The driver remarkably able to help them off. And guys, we still have a chance to take the "Gma3" set to bora bora. Those lottery jackpots keep on growing. The mega millions drawing for tonight, $750 million up for grabs, the fifth largest in history. And Saturday's Powerball drawing topping 640 million bucks. Tj, you're watching all our numbers, right? You're in charge. I got you covered. Y'all can trust me. Oh, we've heard that before. All right, Kyra, thank you. Have a good weekend. See you next week.
