I'm Alicia Quarles. Small businesses across the country have been feeling the pressure as the pandemic has forced many into survival mode. Struggling to navigate these tough months. Like many, Mary Ann Smith had to pivot her artisan soap business to attract new users and it hasn't been easy. Take a look. I'm Mary Ann Smith. I'm from rockaway, New York. I make soaps, bubble baths and all kinds of fun things. I started my business in 1984. I'm a single parent. I have two children. I wanted to be home with my One of the hardest hit communities rockaway, New York. We were severely hurt by super storm sandy. We had six feet of water in my home and my shop. My business was devastated. Since the pandemic hit in March, I've had to pivot my business, primarily my cliental up until recently was wholesale customers. Every store I sold to was closed and gone. My website is very old. I have to target a totally different audience. I could use help with how to best advertise my website. Have a website that really is functional in this environment and to be able to reach out and touch individual customers and conduct retail sales that would put me on the map. Here now is small business owner Mary Ann Smith. To help Mary Ann grow her online business is our sponsor go daddy. Sam is joining us. Sam, as you heard Mary Ann's website hasn't been updated for sometime. She's in desperate need of a refresh. What's your best tips to help Mary Ann update her online presence? Time and cynics say people don't buy what you do. They buy why you do it. Mary Ann, share that why. Make it personal. When you're writing, do it in the first person. I love that suggestion. Sam, once you have your about page updated, what do you do next? You want to make your site easy to use. Allow customers to see what they want and buy it. You don't want to be that restaurant that has a ten-page menu. You get there. You don't know what you want to eat. You feel so overwhelmed by all the choices. Last, but not least, what is your final tip for Mary Ann? People like to do business with those they like, know and trust. Mary Ann, for people to get to like and trust you, they first have to get to know you. Social media can help with that. Allow people to get to see the authentic side of you, who you are. You want to make that connection with your audience and let them know that you're not just a business owner, you're an every day person just like them. Sam, incredibly helpful information. We appreciate it. Mary Ann, we hope these tips help you update your website. That's not all. Sam has a little surprise for you. Sam, what do you want to tell Mary Ann?
