The latest on those escalating tensions with Iran. Secretary of state Mike Pompeo declared that the massive attack on Saudi oil facilities was an act of war by Iran. President trump is now ordering more sanction on that state as it is declared that military retaliation will spark an all-out war. Good morning, Cecilia. Reporter: President trump is saying other options like a military strike are on the table and that's what prompted that statement just now from Iran's foreign minister in this threat of an all-out war. This morning, president trump is promising new sanctions on Iran while also sending mixed messages about possible military action. There's plenty of time to do some dastardly things, it's very easy to start and we'll see what happens. Reporter: In the wake of that attack on key oil fields in Saudi Arabia, the president said military strikes are on the table. There are many options and there's the ultimate option and there are options that are a lot less than that. Reporter: But then later at the border as he toured his wall, he wavered. There may be a very powerful one and maybe it won't be we'll see. Reporter: But his secretary of state Mike Pompeo landing in Saudi Arabia to meet with the crown prince minced no words calling the attack an act of war. Blessed that there were no Americans killed in this attack but any time you have an act of war of this nature, there's always risk that that could happen. Reporter: Iran adamantly denying any involvement and warning that U.S. Retaliation would be met with a rapid and crushing response. The Iranian backed houthi rebels have claimed responsibility but the Saudi military release what had it claims is new evidence, charred remnants of drones and a cruise missile and this surveillance video showing the missiles coming from the direction of Iran. And the president has faced criticism even from his own ally Lindsey graham who says that the president's tough talk is just that, talk, graham says that the white house needs to act swiftly and decisively on Iran, George. And as this was happening the president did name his fourth national security adviser, a lawyer who's done some hostage negotiations for the state department. Reporter: Robert o'brien has taken the job and it comes as a crucial time in foreign policy here given these tensions with Iran. The trade war with China. He traveled with the president to California yesterday. The president lavished praise on them saying they have good chemistry and great relationship. That matters here for this president.
