that which I'll have in a bit. Tracking it all. To Washington and new developments in the Russia investigation. President trump overnight told "The New York Times" he's been assured by the deputy attorney general he's not a subject or target of the investigation. He's also touting new reports he did not receive calls from his son don junior before that infamous trump tower meeting with Russians. Pierre Thomas has the latest. Good morning, Pierre. Reporter: Good morning. Those calls involve blocked numbers leaving some Democrats in congress to openly question whether Donald Trump Jr. Was communicating with his father just before and after that meeting at trump tower with the Russians. Three sources familiar with the matter have told ABC news those calls were actually between Donald Trump Jr. And two family friends, NASCAR CEO Brian France and real estate developer Howard lorburg. Both actively supported his campaign. Overnight the president clearly feeling vindicated tweeting, just out, the big deal, very mysterious don junior telephone calls after the innocent trump tower meeting that the media and DEMs said were made to his father were just conclusively found not to be made to me. They were made to friends and business associates of don. Really sad. Quick response from the president and Democrats had been touting the possibility those were calls to president trump but Democrats are not done investigating here. Reporter: No, house intelligence chairman Adam Schiff is still not convinced and will still look into that. The president telling "The New York Times" that the deputy attorney general rod Rosenstein has assured him he's not a subject or a target of the Mueller investigation. Reporter: Well, that is interesting news because we still have not seen the final report but, again, so far none of the allegations have involved allegations of a conspiracy involving the president so far. Thanks very much.
