Transcript for US destroys Iranian drone as tensions rise
Now to rising tensions with Iran. This morning the regime disputing president trump's claim that a U.S. Warship destroyed an Iranian drone less than a month after Iran shot down a U.S. Drone. Chief global affairs correspondent Martha Raddatz has been tracking all of that. Reporter: The Iranians claimed they have not lost any drones in the strait of hormuz or anywhere else and say they have images proving it adding they worry the U.S. Shot down one of its own drones by mistake but that is certainly not what the U.S. Is saying. President trump himself announcing that the warship, the "Uss boxer" destroyed and Iranian drone in the strait after it approached the ship within a thousand feet in what he said threatened the safety of the ship and its crew. A U.S. Official telling ABC the Marines on board brown down the drone with jamming equipment on the ship. It caused the drone to crash after interfering with its flight, Amy. They have destroyed one of our drones. We have vowed one of their drones. There is a big difference. Reporter: The drone the U.S. Shot down was an extremely sophisticated highly classified and very expensive piece of equipment with a wingspan like a 737 the Iranian drone was thought to be much smaller and far less sophisticated but this shows once again tensions remain extremely high in the region, Amy. All right, Martha Raddatz, thank you so much.
