Reporter: Good morning, george. Oscar pistorius walked into a packed courtroom this morning. His head bowed. He struggled to remain his composure, sobbing at times. A decision is expected to come within the next hour on whether pistorius will be allowed to go home or will have to live in prison until his trial is concluded. As the crush of cameras looked on, the 26-year-old lawyer grabbed his hand, telling him, you're going to be okay. Trembling as he said, good morning, your worship. His family anxiously awaiting a decision. His coach also in the courtroom, hoping to get him back into the training soon. I think to get his mind sort of clear, the sooner er he can start with a bit of work. Reporter: In closing arguments, prosecutors said pistorius' version of why he shot his girlfriend, model reeva steenkamp on valentine's day, was improbable. They believe he intentionally killed her after an argument. When she locked herself in his bathroom, he took a gun from under his bed firped at her through the door four times. Defense attorneys insisted it was an accident. That pistorius mistook his girlfriend for an intruder. They also said pistorius would not be a flight risk because he is too recognizable and needs constant medical attention for his legs. The case took a wild turn on thursday, when a new lead investigator was assigned, following the bombshell revelation that the detective in charge of the night of the shooting, hilton botha, is himself facing murder charges. Botha was immediately dropped from the case. Court-watchers believe the blow to both that's credibility, along with the admission there's not yet evidence to disprove pistorius's account of what happened, has seriously damaged the prosecution's case. Again, court reconvenes about a half hour from now. Legal analysts say the bail matter may not be over. The losing side can still appeal to a higher court.
