Your fellow Texan. Sheila Jackson Lee. Has proposed. A commission to study reparations. If that passes. And you are president United States would you sign that bill. Yes. And until all Americans understand that civil rights are not just those victories that I began with at the outset of my comments. But the injustices that have been visited and continued to be visited. On people we will never get the change that we need to live up to the promise of this country so absolutely I would sign that into law think. A 100% of course myth how can you. You would start to explore an issue of you don't even have arguments in the study which is what the law authorizes its a very basic logical first step but I would go again further. I would put a thousand dollars a month in the hands of every adult starting at age eighteen which would have a disproportionate impact and then I would say that is not reparations. We need to study reparations independently of the fact that we need to make this economy work for you all. I would. And. And let me tell you why sold. Because. Some of those issues I was talking about these are issues where in equity happening material ways. On purpose so I thought a lot about in this campaign about intergenerational justice will one generation knows. The conversation about reparations is also more of justice between generate. You can't you can't tie that boat down. And then wonder why it's getting flooded when is right. So the other reason we needed mission. As it will allow us to advance. The conversation beyond the way it is being caricatured. By many on the political right. Who want to use it to arouse hostility. To something that is being perceived as a check that. And is being perceived as something that will be unfair they're gonna Stowe and say well. You know who's gonna come from a news. It's exactly why we need a rigorous serious study say okay what would it actually. To have real reasons through whatever mechanisms policy in this country acts to write those stories songs and by the way it's very mayor. Something broke. We ought to fix.
