Transcript for Clinton Calls for 'Greater Respect' for Cops, Use of Force Guidelines
Secretary Clinton let me ask you bill on the flip side because when the gunfire broke out here in Dallas he saw so many officers. Running into the danger as they do in so many of our communities across this country. Do you think the police officers are getting a bad rap across this country because the actions of the few. Absolutely. Attic the vast majority of police officers in our country are serving honorably and bravely. And that's why it's very important we support their work. That we respect their service and at the same time we put in place guidelines to. Make sure that every police officer understands what is expected of him or her. It it was clear last night that police were protecting. Peaceful protesters. Who were actually pro testing authority that is the American way. And when those gunshots started and everyone was running for safety the police were running toward the gunfire and the danger. So yes we should be showing much greater respect and appreciation. For what police do every single day. And we should be doing everything possible to protect them and also protect citizens. So that every person feels that they will be treated appropriately if there is an encounter with a police officer.
