tonight, NBA superstar kobe Bryant, killed in a helicopter crash in California along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna. Michael Jordan saying, I loved kobe, he's like a little brother to me. As we say good night tonight, here's kobe Bryant in his own words. Kobe Bryant at the buzzer! My family, we still call it basketball fever. It's like you have to play all the time. You find something that you loved to do and you go after it. I was very fortunate to have basketball. I used to make 1,000 shots a day. My body could take it. I used to make 1,000 a day. The Lakers threepeat! Back-to-back -- I was such a huge laker fan growing up. I mean, like, a diehard laker fan. I had magic posters, you know, magic t-shirts. It was my dream to be a Los Angeles laker. And so, you know, to be here for 20 years and to get to know some of my mentors, it's been a dream come true. Kobe Bryant. Have you accomplished everything that you've wanted to on the court? No. No. I wanted eight championships, as a dreamy kid, growing up in -- I wanted eight. Why eight? Because magic had five. And then Michael had six. And then I said, "Okay, I'm gonna win eight." And had the opportunity to have seven and didn't work out. Just an epic performance by kobe Bryant. Sports is a very emotional thing and in our world that emotion is what creates the magic. And the fans. It was important for them to know how much they meant to me. How vital they've been in my career. I mean, we grew up together. And that's such a beautiful thing.
