Back here at home, moderna is shipping out nearly 6 million doses of its vaccine. Just 36 hours after the fda issued emergency use authorization. Tonight, the CDC is out with new guidance about who should be next in line to be vaccinated. Gio Benitez is in Mississippi, where the modern vaccine was shipped out early this morning. Reporter: Tonight, the second shot of hope is on the move. A round of applause marking the moment workers shipped out the first boxes of moderna's lifesaving covid-19 vaccine. And there it goes right there, the first truck leaving this facility. You have U.S. Marshals escorting it. The modern vaccine is now on its way. FedEx and U.P.S., driving and flying those first doses to more than 3,700 locations in all 50 states. For this ups driver of 37 years, this haul was bittersweet. His father died from covid just last month. This has been the most important load that I've hauled. And to bring this back -- I feel that dad was in the truck with me today. Reporter: Unlike pfizer's vaccine, moderna's doesn't need to be kept at ultra cold temperatures, making it easier to reach rural areas. There is light at the end of the tunnel, there are now two vaccines that are approved, they are incredibly effective and efficacious. Reporter: Tonight, a panel voting to give the next round of vaccinations to people over 75, and essential front line workers like firefighters, police officers, teachers, postal workers, and grocery store employees. It will ultimately be up to the states to decide. So far, more than half a million shots of pfizer's vaccine have been administered. And tonight the fda investigating at least six cases of severe allergic reactions. About 1 in 100,000. The CDC updated their recommendations last night just to be sure that if you have an allergny vaccine you probably shouldn't take this one. Reporter: And frustration tonight about those first shipments of pfizer's vaccine. At least 14 states receiving less than they expected. We're ready for a lot more vaccines. What I need is consistent, reliable information. Reporter: Operation warp speed blaming it on common mistakes. The general leading the mission taking personal responsibility. It was my fault. I gave guidance. I am the one that approved forecast sheets. I am the one that approved the allocations. Reporter: Christmas is just five days away. This coming in the midst of one of the busiest shipping weeks of Reporter: That's right. And shipping companies tell us vaccine deliveries are the priority.
