Transcript for Want to Be a Soap Star? 'General Hospital' Casting Director, Mark Teschner, on What He Looks For
My advice for actors that want to get on daytime is. You have to be prepared to bring it you had better be the best actor you can be. Because. Hundreds and hundreds of actors auditioned for every role. And it's not enough to have a great look where somebody has told you -- you should be and so it's I don't even know what that means. You have to be a complex dynamic actor because if that's not the case regardless of how great look and you are. You -- -- up on daytime and certainly -- in general hospital. Casting one person out of hundreds is tricky it's a combination of talent. Charisma presents. Sex appeal it's basically the it factor it's that thing that you know it when you see it. To be a series regular on general hospital it's not enough to just be good you have to be complex interesting compelling. Are you the kind of person that kind of actor that people are gonna watch every day. And that's the kind of thing we're looking for and ultimately it does come down to some kind of a gut reaction.
