Transcript for CDC reevaluating mask mandate for vaccinated people
All right Dr. Ashton here with us as always, we begin a lot of updates of course talking about vaccine, the coronavirus numbers, Johns Hopkins 142.1 million cases worldwide, here in this country that number 567,000 American lives lost. We tracked the vaccine as well. The CDC telling us at least 211.5 million doses have been administered so far. Jen, it means now over 50% of adults in this country have at least one of the vaccine shots which is pretty remarkable and now there is word that the CDC may be making an adjustment on mask policies. So many people asking the question, will we have to wear masks forever? That's a major motivation in people getting vaccinated. So we've heard some hints from Dr. Anthony Fauci about the CDC possibly revising their recommendations in the future for those individuals who are fully vaccinated. Now we have to remember, two purposes for wearing masks in terms of wearing it to protect other people. We still don't really understand the risk of asymptomatic infection or spread of covid-19 after vaccinated. That's in the column of continued to wear the mask. The other person that's being protected is the person wearing the mask. We do know that after vaccination there's an incredibly low risk of infection, it's not zero, but it's low, so those people, you know, that's in the column maybe tey don't need to wear mask. That's what the CDC will be evaluating based on data. That could be down the road. Could be soon. Right now, remind us officially. Here's what the CDC said, for fully vaccinated individuals two weeks after their dose, their second dose, in the case of Johnson & Johnson if that gets resumed their only dose, they can congregate with other vaccinated people in small home social settings without wearing masks and without social distancing. You go out in public those masks right now are still needed so party at my place? Party of three. I thought you'd never ask. Thank you, we'll see you
