Transcript for American tourists missing at sea after jet ski trip
We are back with that vacation mystery. A search under way for a missing American couple who vanished while jet skiing in Barbados. Well now their family is speak out and ABC's gio Benitez is here with all the latest on this yet another mystery, gio. Reporter: Another troubling mystery. The state department is now looking into this saying it is aware of the Americans who went missing off the western coast of the island. Rescuers finding no trace of the couple or that rented jet ski. A mystery in Barbados after two American tourists go missing. Oscar Suarez and magdalena devil never returning. Their mother and sister speaking to ABC news. We just don't even know what next step to take. It's -- I mean, short of going there ourselves and looking for him. Reporter: Police in Barbados tell us Oscar and magdalena rented the jet ski at 2:34 P.M. Monday on holp town beach. Both were wearing life jackets. By 2:55 when they didn't come back the operator became worried and started to search for them. Police and coast guard teams joining in. Even the hotel keeping an eye out in case they returned but no sighting yet. I call the Barbados police and U.S. Embassy and couldn't give me any answers apart from they're still missing and haven't stopped the search but haven't called me back to let me know what I need to do. How can I go about finding out what's going on with my son. They're just not calling back. Reporter: Oscar's mom says she texted with her son over the weekend and everything was fine. Now this morning a search in those caribbean waters. We have family members trying to contact local hospitals. They're not answering the phone even in the hospitals. They're just getting pretty much dead end calls. And boats in the area have been alerted and regional security airplanes are also searching for the missing couple along with police and the coast guard, of course. Oscar is a father of two so everyone is really hoping for the best here. I'm sure they are. Thank you, gio.
