So this Manhattan couple says that less than an hour after a dog walker canceled on them a man was caught on surveillance snatching their dog Benny from their apartment. Now they say they have questions for the app they used to book that dog walker and a big thank you to the actress and the detectives who helped get him back. Sophie and maximum troper regular lie use the app wag to hire dog walkers and always thought highly of them so never expected what happened Thursday. The tropers say a dog walker canceled their appointment. Surveillance cameras outside captured this man with their dog Benny in his arms. We treat him like he's our child but he is. He walked down the aisle at our wedding in September and he's just a huge part of our life. Reporter: The tropers say the only people who know how to access their apartment is the dog walkers and posted photos of the suspect on Instagram and reached out to wag as well as actress Olivia Munn who is an investor in the company. Munn actually responded calling them personally and pushing for a private investigator. She was like, wag is going to do it. If not, I'm going to do it. She was amazing. She was a true hero. Reporter: With the help of private investigators NYPD detective Collin Kaufmann tracked the alleged dog napper to his home in the bronx and taking 22-year-old Christian madriaga into custody. Munn writing, thank god. I've been up all night. Huge, huge gratitude to the NYPD and detective Kaufman and the tropers are overjoyed to finally be reunited with their furry friend. We are so lucky that Benny was -- Safe. -- Delivered safe and sound, but this could have gone so horribly. We are so lucky and grateful. The tropers say police have identified that suspect as the original dog walker who canceled and say they are extremely grateful to the NYPD and Olivia Munn for encouraging wag to hire a private detective. Now, wag also issued a statement saying, every walk on the wag platform is insured and backed by the full support of our trust and safety team which means in the extremely rare case of an incident we are committed to working directly with the pet parent and the appropriate law enforcement agency. Luckily this one had a happy ending. Still scary someone would take your dog right out of your house. The original walker canceled and scheduled another dog walker, and it's when the second dog walker arrived that they learned the dog was missing.
