Transcript for Mom, son rescued from inflatable swan that drifted miles at sea
Back now with that mother and son rescued after drifting out to's on a giant inflatable swan. Diane Macedo has that story. Reporter: It was the harrowing scene worthy of a double take. There is a woman on an inflatable swan. Her and a child and they have drifted really, really far out into the water. Reporter: A mother and son stuck two miles into the gulf of Mexico on of all things an inflatable swan. Tara Myers said the waters appeared calm when she and her son got on it but she soon realized they had drifted into a rip current. It was almost immediate that I realized that we were going out. Much quicker and much deeper than I had thought. I sort of freaked out like maybe we'll never make it back. We're goners. Reporter: Luckily fellow beachgoers found they were in trouble and called 911. A half hour later a rescue team reached them. Tears of joy and had no injuries and got them on the boat without any problems. Reporter: Now Tara says she and her son learned a valuable lesson and are incredibly grateful. Back on shore Brendan popped the swan. They now say the floats go only in the pool. Pretty good rule. Very smart. All right. Thank you, Diane, as always.
