We might be in times square, but that doesn't mean we can't celebrate a special event, California surfing day. We wanted to get into the action. Our sponsor visit California turned our studio into a beach. Here to show me some moves is olympic medalist Jonny moseley. Big welcome, Jonny. Thank you. We're used to seeing you in the snow. Why a surf board? I grew up in California. We have some of the best skiing in the world, but also some of the best surfing in the world. I grew up doing it. I'm obsessed with it. I love it. For my latest "Wildest dreams" episode we did foil boarding. Have you seen this? No. It's a new style of surfing. It's a board, but you're elevated above the water. There's a wing underneath and you're floating above. It was super fun. I did it with this kid named Kyle Lenny. It was a little challenging for me. It's like snow boarding in the water. Exactly. Super tough. You can do it on small waves and big waves. I never really mastered it. I can tell from that video. It's a little too hard for the beginner surfer. I want to take you guys through the basic moves. To the beginner. I want to take you through basic moves. Basic is the pop off. You're on your chest. I saw this in "Forgetting Sarah marshal." Don't be too far forward. A little further back. Michael, you look good. A little further back. You're going to be paddling. It's important when you paddle your back is like a banana, keke. Banana. Squeeze your booty really hard. Now you're paddling. You feel the wave pick you up. Put your hands underneath your shoulders. Lift up and snap to your feet. Get your foot right underneath. All very impressive. Then you go down the line and reach down. The board is shaking. Grab your rail and you're like whoo. Then a classic surf move called hang ten. You're on the beach and everyone is watching. Creep up towards the front of the board. Hang five of your toes over. Get going. Hang ten toes over. There you go. Surf's up! You good, Michael? I'm good. I'm just happy this is not really on the water. Michael I feel bad for your board. It cracked earlier. The thing is I don't think this board is made for me. I'm a little heavy. It's okay. They have boards for people my size. It's for everybody. Mostly I surf on a long board. That's, you know, fun. You surf small little waves. That's what I have my kids on. It's more mellow. You don't actually have to -- I was impressed how quick you guys got to your feet. That's not easy on a short you guys are all super fit. If people want to explore California, where can they go to find out more information? Go to visitcalifornia.com. We have road trips laid out, which spots to go to, where to stay. Like an itinerary. If you have questions Instagram me. I'll reply. I'll tell you where to go. To help everyone in the audience kick start their surfing adventures, our sponsor visit California is sending you all home with a $100 gift card.
