Reporter: She can joke about it now. But with her weight at nearly 340 pounds, ann knew she had to change her ways. I was having apnea, stopping breathing in the night. Reporter: That's when she got a call saying she was going on a diet. After I got off the phone with her, I said, you know what? It's time for me to do the same thing. Reporter: And beyond their constant support of each other, they followed five important rules. Ann and diane say, no white flour. Save your storch for healthy stuff. No potato, corn or peas. Eat heavier earlier in the day and lighter at dinner. Always having healthy snacks available. They also believe if you're not starving, you won't binge. So, pay attention to the serving size. Starting real small. And it just built and built and built. Every time I had a hard time, I called my sponsor. That's what we called each other. And anytime she had a hard time, she would call me. Reporter: The results, staggering. Diane lost 111 pounds. Ann, almost 171. Combined, they shed more than 280 pounds. And these best friends continue their journey. They also workout every day.
