next in just a few minutes. We begin with the explosisploes partial verdict, and they found him guilty of attempted murder, but couldn't agree on the murder charge. We have the story from Jacksonville. Good morning, Ryan. Reporter: Good morning, to you. The judge says he's never seen a group work harder. I was in the courtroom when the verdict was read. They looked exhausted. They deliberated more than 30 hours, but the final result feels like justice for nobody. We find Thim guilty of second degree murder. It's unsatisfying. Even the protesters weren't sure what to make of it. He will likely spend the rest of his life in prison, but not for killing Jordan Davis. They deadlocked on whether it was murder or self-defense, as he claimed on the stand. I thought I was going to be killed. Reporter: A mistrial on the murder count left the parents heartbroken again. And we will continue to await for justice. Reporter: They convicted the software developer of three counts of attempted second degree murder for shooting at the teens at this gas station in November 2012. The mother of one of those young men released this statement, justice has been served, but it's not complete. Yes, ma'am. Reporter: The state's attorney is already vowing to retry Dunn on the first-degree murder charge. But the fact is under Florida law, he must serve at least 60 years on the attempted murder charges. He would be 107 when he got out. He's in disbelief. It's not sunk in. He was saying how is this happening. It's sad for Mr. Dunn that he will live the rest of his life in that sense of torment, and I will pray for him. Reporter: Now here in Jacksonville, there are 12 people everybody wants to hear from. Of course, those jurors. So far they have declined all requests for an interview. We can only hope that will change, because what a fascinating story to hear what went on in the jury room for the hours. Everybody wants to know the dynamics that led to the verdict. Ryan Owen who has been on the case since the beginning. Thank you. For more now on the partial verdict that surprised and saddened both sides. Let's bring in Dan Abrams, and from Atlanta, Nancy grace, good morning to both of you. Nancy, start with you. Are you surprised by this verdict and what do you make of it? Well, I'm not surprised because you could see it coming. As early as Friday night, they were saying we're hung up on one charge, but we have a verdict on the other charges. That clearly indicated the problem was the murder charge. That was the only charge of the five that was really different from the other charges. Now this is true, he's got to do 60 years. Because in Florida they have what's called 10-20 life. Which mean it is you commit an assault with a gun, you can't run it concurrently. It's got to be 20 plus 20 plus 20. But what I think happened, I think that they decided that right or wrong, Dunn believed he was under attack by Jordan Davis. So they could not agree, even on a lesser on Davis. But as to the other three boys in the car, that that was attempted murder too. I am dissatisfied, but I'm not going to come down out jury because they really gave it their all. And I don't know that they believed it. It may have been a juror or two who believed it. Correct. This is a tough self-defense case. Remember, that he's claiming -- It was awful. That a shotgun is being pointed at him, and yet there is no evidence that there was a shotgun. There are witnesses from the scene who say that he was saying things like you're not going to talk to me that way, which is not self-defense. His fiance -- She never mentioned a gun. She was inside the gas station. So when she comes out and this is happened, he never mentions them having a gun. So this was a tough self-defense -- He actually told police he may have imagined the gun. If you start to feel sympathetic toward Michael Dunn, he's not just a software creator, the former husband, the father, this is a guy that unloads on a car of kids, boys, who were at the mall trying to meet girls. He leaves and goes to bed. Unload ten bullets and go to sleep? And that's one issue is the bullets that may help explain where the jurors got caught up. When you listen to the surveillance tape, which is only audio, you hear pop, pop, pop, and then a pause. You're giving me a chill, Dan. That's just how it happened. You hear another set of pop, pop, pop. And it's possible that a juror or two got caught up on whether the first set of bullets may have been self-defense with regard to Jordan Davis, and yet the other bullets that were fire department -- fired, they felt didn't justify that. It's still an imagery gun. He said he may have imagine STD. I don't agree with the verdict, but I think the state intends to retry him. You don't agree with the non-verdict. You do agree with the verdict. They came back with a verdict on four of the five counts. So that is a verdict. Right. Look, hung juries -- A lot of people are saying they're not going to retry. They are. Yeah, if anybody has been a crime victim like myself, I want justice for Jordan Davis, even a not guilty, I want a jury trial for him. And I think they will do that. They have said that they will do that, Nancy. We want to thank you and Dan for your time and analysis this morning. It's worth pointing out that Jordan Davis would have been 19 had he survived that attack on that Sunday. Bianna, to you. And switch gears and turn to
