We're going to turn to this day which marks the six-month anniversary of the sandy hook school shootings in newtown, connecticut. Families of the victims met thursday, with president obama and members of congress, to continue to fight for tougher gun laws. And, lara, you sat down with some of these parents. This is a fight they intend to see through to the very last. Remarkable, remarkable people. And in the six months since the newtown shootings, there have been nearly 5,000 more gun deaths in our country. The families of those lost in the sandy hook school have made it their mission to change that. To mark the anniversary, many of them were in washington to meet with delegates and president obama, who promises to fight alongside them. They were there to remember those lost. Anna green. Age 6. Reporter: And vowed to never forget. I have grief not only for my family but also for the eight families today that will suffer a loss of a child due to gun violence in this country. Reporter: Resuming their fight to lobby congress for stricter gun laws, after the senate voted down their background check provision in april. I know you were disappointed. But you said you are not defeated. We're in mile one of a marathon. We're going to continue to work for this. And we're going to continue to try to convince people and influence people that this really is the right thing to do. Reporter: Mark and his wife, jackie, lost their 7-year-old son, daniel. What is life like eachnow for you all? If you asked me what day it was, I probably can't answer. In my heart as a mother, it will ALWAYS BE DECEMBER 14th. Except, it's 7:30. Reporter:7:30, when 6-year-old anna was still home eating breakfast before going to school and into the line of fire. I know you met for the first time at the firehouse on DECEMBER 14th. So, you're both going through this together, as strangers. Not strangers anymore, now. It's like family. Reporter: A family who has come together to advocate for mental health reform and protect other kids from gun violence. Do you fee you're still parenting daniel and anna when you're out there fighting the fight for them? I feel like it's my responsibility, as anna's dad, to do something, that honors her life and prevents some other family going through what we had to go through. Reporter: In all of this, it would be totally understandable if you considered moving away. Have you? No. Reporter: Adamant. Adamant. We loved it here from day one. And we love it all the more now. And that young man made a very bad choice and took my daughter's life. He's not taking anything else. Reporter: Those families, vowing to go state-to-state to win over lawmakers. They're also very involved in the sandy hook promise, to find common-sense solutions to protect communities from similar, horrible acts of violence.
