Gio benitez is at the security command post outside fenway. Good morning, gio. Reporter: Good morning to you, george. Here in boston, more than anything, there's excitement in the air for tonight's game. And there, you see those words. America's most beloved ballpark. So, police are being extra careful. As the boston red sox and the st. Louis cardinals prepare for an epic battle at the world series -- let's show the nation, why we're a first-class city on the field and off the city. Reporter: Behind the scenes, boston police and the city's mayor are prepping for the first major event, since the boston marathon. At a press conference, police asked all bostonians to be responsible and respectable fans. Police help to keep you safe and don't allow anyone to tarnish the image of boston strong. Reporter: Security will be tight at fenway park. With an enhanced police presence, hundreds of officers patrolling the streets. More surveillance, and police discouraging fans from bringing backpacks. I feel like we're in good hands. No problems. Go sox. Reporter: The series in boston has special meaning. It was six months ago, when two bombs hidden in backpacks exploded at the boston marathon, killing 3 people. Yiring 260 others. The world series here gives the city hope. We can take the minds off the injuries or the suffering, that's our job. That's what we try to do. Reporter: The red sox came back from a losing start to their season. And after the attacks, player david ortiz, big papi, vowed the city and red sox, would not be deterred. Quoting that slogan, boston strong. These jerseys that we wear today. It doesn't say red sox. It says boston. This is our city. Stay strong. Thank you opinion. Reporter: By the way, by tomorrow, we could see the coldest first pitch ever here at fenway park during a world series. 46 degrees, robin. Ooh. Yes. Not as cold as it was in cleveland back in '97. THAT WAS IN THE 30s. Cold enough. My espn roots come out every now and again. Gio, thanks very much.
