Tonight, so many wondering about George H.W. Bush, who is in a Texas hospital right now, rushed there by ambulance after experiencing shortness of break. ABC's Ryan Owens outside Houston methodist hospital with the latest. Reporter: Good evening, Tom. The former president is in the hospital behind me. His spokesperson will only say he is just here as a precaution. Remember, he's 90 years old. Our oldest living president. First, of course, thank president and Mrs. Obama for this wonderful hospitality. It's like coming home for Barbara and me. Reporter: The former president has looked frail for years, confined to a wheelchair for the last two. Late Tuesday night, the 90-year-old experienced a shortness of breath and was rushed by ambulance to Houston methodist hospital, a place he knows well. Bush 41, as he's known, spent the Christmas before last here, a bout with bronchitis. It was so serious, he stayed two months in this hospital, some of it in the icu. George H.W. Bush was last seen publicly a month ago, at a Houston texans football game. He and the former first lady even caught on the kiss cam. Weeks before that, his son, president George W. Bush, paid tribute to his father at his presidential library at Texas A&M university. His great contributions to my presidency was the comfort he provided. Reporter: Tonight, he's the one who could use the comforting. But the former president is not a man who stays down long. In June, he celebrated his 90th birthday by jumping out of a plane, just like he did when he turned 75, 80 and 85. Tonight, the white house says the current president, who is on vacation in Hawaii, has been briefed on the former president's condition. Helland the first lady are sending the bush family warm wishes for the holiday season. Tom? Ryan Owens for us in Houston. Ryan, thank you.
