Transcript for Scarlett Johansson discusses what fans can expect from 'Black Widow'
Over to Cecilia. For of our interview with Scarlett Johansson. Fans got their first look at the long awaited black widow solo movie at comic-con over the weekend and Adrienne Bankert sat down with the actress to talk about it. Adrienne joining us again from L.A. Good morning, friend. Reporter: Good morning to you, Cecilia. If you've seen "Avengers: Endgame" you know why it's a really big deal to have a black widow movie coming out with the one and only Scarlett Johansson. The rumors are true. Black widow is back. We're shooting it -- I could say that now, right? Can we say that? Oh, thank god. Okay. Yep. Reporter: Following black widow's sacrifice in "Avengers: Endgame," Scarlett Johansson is starring in the first stand-alone film for her character in the marvel cinematic universe. I would have been happy to end "Endgame" and walk away, it felt like -- I felt like I was proud of the work that we have all done together and that the only reason to do this stand-alone would be to elevate the genre in some way. Is this considered a prequel? Is this considered a resurrection or is this a It's a revelation, I guess, of sorts. Take that however it comes out. That's a perfect word. Black widow, a revelation. No, I don't want to say that at all. Oh, my god, it's so stuffy. Let me put you on hold. We get to all the questions you may have had about this mysterious character and who she is, where she comes from, whatever the secrets of the past that haunt her. It's been nearly a decade of walking in this superhero's shoes. I think the biggest surprise for me is that actually her strength is in her vulnerability that has been very liberating just to kind of make that discovery. It's going to be a lot more choices. While she, I think has to put on a brave face in some capacity as a leader, you know, she also is -- she's okay, I think, with her feelings and with expressing them. And even after all this time with marvel, Johansson admits a stand-alone movie is certainly new territory. You know, it's a little bit scary not having the kind of cushion of my fellow avengers around. I hate to keep saying vulnerable but you feel like you put yourself out there a different way because the character stands on her own. Reporter: Fans will have to wait and see if there will be any other avengers appearing this this movie. Obviously Jeremy Renner's character and you have this deep emotional connection. Yes. Will any part of that story line continue into the black widow story? Oh, my god. That's when you see the thnaq gun come out. They'll take me out first and you going out second. My lips are sealed. You got to wait and see. And we will wait and see for sure. Every time I see one of these movies or I interview one of these stars I start to think like a little kid like what if I grew up to be a superhero one day. "Black widow" is set for a may 2020 release. Excited about that. Thank you.
