Transcript for Bison attacks 9-year-old girl at Yellowstone National Park
We turn to a pretty scary incident at yellowstone national park caught on camera. A young girl now recovering after being attacked by a bison. Eva pilgrim here with the story. Reporter: Good morning. This little girl and her family were doing what so many families do during the summer visiting yellowstone national park. Part of a bigger group that had been standing near that bison for some 20 minutes with no issue when out of nowhere the bison came running. Terrifying moments for a group visiting yellowstone national park. A bison just feet away charging. Its target a 9-year-old little girl. The 9-year-old from Odessa, Florida, was a group of 50 people visiting the old faithful geyser area Monday afternoon. You can see in this video the group walking on a nearby road. The bison only five to ten feet away. All of a sudden you see it move running toward the group tossing the little girl into the air. People don't understand when they go to these wildfire parks this is wildfire. This is not domestic lives. Reporter: The 9-year-old was treated at the old faithful clinic and released. She's recovering this morning. That little girl is very, very lucky. Reporter: Millions of people come to yellowstone every year to visit with nature and see the park's famous wildlife but some get too close. Last June this man got out of his car and began taunting a bison along the road. Remarkably the bison lost interest and the man escaped. Sadly, that's not always the case. A 59-year-old woman from California was among a crowd that got too close at yellowstone and was gored by a bison. It happened so fast but it seemed like it took forever. It was the most frightening experience I have been through in my life to date. Reporter: And yellowstone officials reminding people the wildfire in the park are, in fact, wild. They encourage people to give the animals some space, at least 25 yards for all large animals. That includes bison and a hundred yards from bears and wolves. Seems like -- I'll give them more than that. I think you find yourself in that situation, get away as quickly and peacefully as possible. Yeah. Eva, thanks so much.
