We move to the dramatic rescue of an abandoned baby in Georgia. A family heard crying in the woods, discovered a newborn just hours old and the rescue was captured on body cams when police were called in. Paula Faris here with the story. Good morning, Paula. Reporter: Good morning, George. The baby is actually doing really well this morning but authorities are searching for her mother and who abandoned her leaving her for dead in a plastic bag in the woods. Look at you, sweetheart. Oh, I'm so sorry. Reporter: You're watching the shocking moment that a newborn's life is saved. A moment many are calling a miracle. Oh, look how precious you Reporter: The newborn baby girl perhaps just an hour old, her unbill Cal cord still attached was found abandoned wrapped in a plastic shopping bag in the woods near a residential Georgia neighborhood by neighbors who heard her cries and called 911. We can hear a baby crying in the woods outside of our house. We weren't sure if it was an animal but we think it's a baby. Reporter: Alan ragatz and his daughters followed those cries into the nearby wooded area in the middle of the night. It's in a bag. What's in a bag? The baby is in a bag. Is she breathing? She's crying. I kept saying, do you guys hear that cat. We hear a lot of noises at nighttime. They said they wanted to go and grab their flashlights and thank goodness they did. She was in the plastic bag tied up but her arm had come out of the bag. Reporter: Fire and ems arriving to the scene within minutes. How old is the baby? Newborn. Reporter: Terry roper getting her warm and transporting her to a nearby hospital unbelievably in good condition. I wanted to give her comfort. A little bit later I realized it was the first time she had ever felt love and I felt honored to be able to give her that. Reporter: The healthy baby girl named India is now in the custody of protective services. God definitely had his hand in this incident. The mother or whoever dropped the baby off would have had to have dropped her off in a perfect place. The family came back to vacation exactly when they did. Ems was closer than they usually we were all able to take care of that baby. And many of 9 rescue personnel tell us they consider baby India to be part of their family and gave her a name, India, because they said she deserved an identity so police are searching for baby India's mother. Whoever left her could face abandonment charges. This is a good opportunity to remind everyone about safe haven There are safe haven laws in all 50 state, George. That means you can take your newborn and drop it off at a safe location whether it be a hospital, police department, fire department and you won't face abandonment charges. In Georgia you have up to 30 days. Thank goodness all the stars were aligned. Everything aligned. Thanks, Paula.
