All right now to head-turning hairstyles. Healthy and happy hair is within reach even when styling your own locks at home. Celebrity hairstylist, yene damtew joins us. You are having an amazing start to 2021, so thanks for joining let's talk. You have trimmed the tresses of a-listers. What are your top hair maintenance tips? Of course, moisture is super, super key. I think that so many people get so caught up in techniques and all these other things that they forget to moisturize their hair. That is always number one and then number two I think so many of us have been at home and having to figure out our hair during a shutdown. It's really important to consult with a professional. If you have questions, get on the phone. Ask your hairstylist what you should do so they can give you a customized at-home hair care routine. Perfect. We have a viewer question from Kelsey. When I have an unanticipated zoom call with no time to properly style my hair, what's a quick fix that I can do instantly? A quick fix or quick hair tip, my go-to is always a ponytail. Do a side ponytail or put a middle part but a nice classic clean ponytail is something you can never go wrong and you can dress it up or dress it down so love, love, love a great ponytail. I do love that. Mine is always the big bun on top. Super easy and quick. Yene, you do a lot of amazing people's hair. One of our favorite curl friends, former first lady Michelle Obama who will mix up her hair and bring out the curls. What are secrets to perfectly moisturized glorious curls? I love that question, janai. I think it -- there's so many parts of to it but the easiest way is you want to do less is more, right? So you don't want to put too much heat on your hair. To keep the curls and maintain them, one of my favorite techniques is a top knot on the top of your hair. Throw your head all the way down, twist a bun on the top of your head, put a scrunchie or head tie when you're going to bed or when you're just hanging out around the house and then when you're ready to take them down you'll have full bouncy fluffy curls. You know I will be using this tip every night from here on until forever. Okay, so award season is upon us. Always gives us amazing hair moments. Whose look did you love last year and what do you hope to see this year? I think the thing about award season that is so special, specifically the golden globes, is that it's relatable beauty. You see people walk on the red carpet. You're like, okay, I could wear my hair like that or I wear my hair like that. Last year some of my favorites, Kerry Washington had this beautiful sleek bun. Love, love, loved Kerry Washington's hair, the whole outfit. Zoey Deutch had a beautiful classic hairstyle pulled behind her ear. Again, it's that, you know, it's something in that Bob family and finally Nicole kidman, sleek part, tucked behind your ear. Straight, nothing too complicated. That's something that I love about the golden globes is that you can look on the screen and see a hairstyle you wear every single day. Amazing. Yene, thank you so much. I follow you on Instagram. You're doing your thing and mentoring others making sure others coming up behind you are doing theirs. Coming up, dinner is served.
