Transcript for Emotional reunion between a man and the quick-thinking nurse who saved his life
to save. Janai is back with this emotional "Gma" exclusive. This is a great story. It is. It was a life or death situation unfolding in the middle of traffic. Thanks to the right person being in the right place at the right time one family has another holiday season to spend together. Take one step forward. Reporter: Jerry hallencamp has a lot to be thankful for. After a recent trip to visit a friend literally turned into a heart-stopping moment. She basically said for 15 minutes or so my heart stopped. Reporter: Jerry was stopped in a turning lane in Cincinnati when he says he doesn't remember what happened next. Police and firefighters quickly responding to the scene. It was the immediate life-saving actions of a good samaritan who saw Jerry go limp in his car. He regained consciousness in the Cincinnati hospital. The mystery remained who was his angel? With no idea who the good samaritan was his family sent out a public plea. It was a widely-shared Facebook post that led us to nurse Greg Collins. How you doing? Reporter: "Gma" was there to capture their emotional reunion. I'm glad you're okay. Thank you. I didn't think you were. Thank you. Being here and being able to acknowledge you, that's amazing. I truly thought you were gone. Makes two of us I guess. Reporter: Doctors say Jerry went into cardiac arrest and Collins' actions made the difference between life and death. They let me borrow a baton. I hit the corner of the window and broke it, got in. Then I pulled you out so your feet were up and we started compressions. I'm so glad I stopped. We are too. Reporter: Jerry moved to tears after Collins has given his family the gift of a lifetime. Whether he knows it or not, he's part of our family. Thank you. Nurses are usually unsung heros doing their jobs without much recognition. Really great this family was able to meet Greg Collins and thank him after such a great act. We talk about bad things people do, but people are capable of lots of good things. Incredible things. How fortunate he was there. And knew what to do. Thanks, janai.
