Now, our countdown to the oscars. Best picture nominee "Nebraska." Bruce Dern, plays a deluded man who believes he's won a sweepstakes. And June squiane Squibb. Reporter: Bruce Dern is woody. He gets a sweepstakes letter and thinks he's won $1 million. Everybody is saying woody grant is a millionaire. It's no big deal. June Squibb is his spit fire wife. I liked rose, but my goodness, she was a slut. Reporter: Was that hard? No, it wasn't. Reporter: For Dern, this part caps a career filled with great character roles. Squibb spent most of her life on Broadway. I started acting like in the first grade. I remember goldilocks I was good. Did you play the bear or -- Goldilocks. Reporter: This is a coming home for Dern. One of the more exciting things about "Nebraska" they're coming up saying, who knew? Reporter: Do you have special plans? No, I go and do what they tell me to do. Like walk that red carpet. Do the things that you do. Reporter: The movie is not the only thing they have in common. Both are friends with jack Nicholson. Did you hear from him after your nominati nomination? We both heard from him. He gave both of us a gold bottle of champagne after we were nominated. Jack kind of discovered me, in a way. So he's looking at his kind of little Frankenstein guy out there. Reporter: You worked with jack and Bruce. Talk about the difference between working with jack and Bruce. Well, there's not that much. They're both really good actors. So, I mean, you know -- I wouldn't say otherwise. Reporter: A lifelong runner, Dern's career has been something of a marathon itself. At 77, he says he's excited about the road ahead. The opportunity that I've been given now is the most exciting because of what might come next. I mean, it's going to be a dance that we've not seen. Reporter: For "Good morning America," Cameron Mathison, ABC news, Los Angeles.
