Also an incredible rescue story. A high school freshman attacked by a bear, draking her by her leg until he was saved by the family dog. Matt Gutman with the story. Reporter: 15-year-old Leah reerd is walking her dog, Ralph, near her home in east point, Florida, just after 6:00 P.M. She seen Ralph get antsy and start barking. When she looked up, it was just black. The bear was on top of her. Started attacking her. Drug her into the ditch. Reporter: As the bear bit her leg and dragged her off the road, reeder's mom said her daughter tried screaming for help. When no one came, she tried playing dead. That's when Ralph stepped in. Lunging at the bear. Despite serious injuries to her legs, back, neck, and face. She was able to walk to her father's house a block away before going to the hospital where she underwent surgery. Reerd's mom said she alerted wild life officials in the past about the number of bears in east point but to no avail. One of the men told me, until these bears take someone, they could do nothing. I said that's ashame someone will have to lose their lives before ya'all do something. Reporter: This morning, her family is thankful she didn't become unlucky number seven.
