moting pressure on the washington redskins to change their name. Today, a native american group is taking its campaign to the top of the nfl, one day after the team met with the league's owner. Gio benitez has the story. Reporter: It's the controversy that doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon. There are some native americans who find this highly and incredibly offensive. This name is hurtful and damaging. Reporter: His people didn't start this newest fight over the washington redskins. But he hopes his meeting today with nfl officials might help end it once and for all. I think by working together, we can achieve something, a legacy we can be proud of. Reporter: The meeting comes one day after team owner dan snyder, reportedly met with roger goodell. "The washington post" is reporting that snyder is holding firm on the position he took in a letter to fans. He ruled out any name change. Writing, we are redskins nation. And we owe it to our fans and coaches and players, past and present, to preserve that heritage. In his mind, he believes he's never going to change the nickname. But the world around him is starting to cave in. Reporter: When a trademark application for the washington bravehearts made news last week, speculation was rampant that change was on its way. It would be easier for dan snyder to make the change. It's the right thing to do. It would energy the fan base. And you would sell a ton of t-shirts and caps. Reporter: Fans' imaginations have run wild. An online contest giving a glimpse of what new duds might look like for the washington warriors or renegades or griffiths. Leaders of 26 tribes are having their own meeting right now and talking about the name change controversy. The team's owner says he understands their concerns. But that the redskins' name is a badge of honor. George, robin, the nfl says only he can make that name change. Right now, he's standing firm.
