Now to frightening new details about the ride that malfunctions injured five people at the north carolina state fair. Investigators now raising big new questions about what really happened. The operator has been arrested. Gio benitez has the story. Reporter: Watch. We see the moment when the ride at the state fair, the vortex, restarted without warning, as passengers were getting off. The new video obtained exclusively by abc news shows an injured person being pulled away. The ride taking off. Giving passengers no time to put on restraints. I heard people hit the metal floor. Reporter: This morning, the ride's operator is preparing to face a judge. Police arrested 46-year-old tim tutterrow on saturday, saying the vortex's safety system was deliberately tampered with before thursday's accident. Tutterrow is charged with three felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious bodily injury. Five people were injured, three still in the hospital, including a 14-year-old. It makes me mad to think that anybody would put people's safety in danger. I'm furious. Reporter: He had worked for the company, family attractions amusements, for four years. He's a married father of two from georgia. His attorney tells abc news tutterrow is devastated. Now fair officials are saying the vortex ride has a problem with a switch last monday. The labor department inspected the ride to make sure that the problem had been fixed. It had been. Reporter: After that, police say, the ride was tampered with. Family attractions says it has an excellent equipment safety record and never before experienced an incident like this one. Fair officials won't say exactly what was allegedly tampered with. Experts say it probably involved an override of computer sensors. Tutterrow's bond set at $225,000. More arrests are expected. They've been working very hard on this case.
